New Holiday Inn Express Built in Cape Girardeau
Cape Girardeau based Mid-America Hotels Corporation has recently opened a 100-room Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in Cape Girardeau. The new hotel was built at the present site of the Holiday Inn at the interchange of Route K and Interstate 55.
The former motel facility built in 1962 was one of the few full facility hotel operations in the region. Mid-America re-developed the site to accommodate several restaurant sites on the land surrounding the new hotel. Panera Bread and Olive Garden plan to open soon at the site located just off the interchange. A retail strip mall is also under construction.

The original Holiday Inn structure was torn down to make way for the new hotel. During forty years of operation in Cape Girardeau, the Holiday Inn has served national political leaders, celebrities, mayors, business leaders, business travelers, conventions, seminars and most importantly, families.
